INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION

The Investigations Division is overseen by the Lieutenant of the Atchison County Sheriff's Office. The Investigations Division works closely with victims, witnesses, citizens, local agencies, state agencies, and federal agencies.

The Investigations Division is responsible for investigating a wide range of crimes in Atchison County as well as assisting other agencies in the region. This includes crimes against persons (i.e., homicides, suicides, sex crimes, and crimes against children), major property crimes (i.e., burglaries, auto thefts, financial crimes, and computer crimes), and drug crimes.

Detectives are also active in assisting patrol division with the investigations of fatality motor vehicle accidents, processing of crime scenes, and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects. In addition, the investigations division assists with crimes occurred in the Atchison County Jail.
